There’s a ton of reviews and opinions on doing a cleanse and of course there are some that are more extreme than others. I decided to try one for myself because my body wasn’t feeling quite like itself with all the travelling, eating, and drinking I’ve been doing over the summer. Now before I tell you what cleanse I did, I want to make very clear I did not partake in this program because I was trying to lose weight. I’ve been seeing people post photos of their before/after bod and I decided not to because it’s a completely irrelevant aspect for me. I did this cleanse because I wanted to “restart” my internal system. There are so many ways for our insides to become congested and for me, I was feeling extremely sluggish and fatigued so I decided it was time to make a change.
I did a 12 day Wild Rose Detox that consists of a recommended food list and herbal supplements. I got it from a local organic food store for $49.99, but I attached a link via Amazon for cheaper. I chose this detox because it had been recommended to me plenty of times in the past and more importantly- you can eat! As opposed to the “Master Cleanse” that consists of only lemon, cayenne, and a syrup concoction for 12-14 days with no food. Nooooo thank you!
My body was eliminating toxins within 6 hours of starting the program and within a couple days I had more energy than I can remember having in the last few months. I was eating a very balanced diet with lots of proteins (view food list here), so I was still able to do my regular workouts without worrying about passing out.
Not gonna lie, some days I had mad cravings for chocolate and chips, but with a few substitutes I found those cravings quickly subsided. Not to say it wasn’t difficult because it absolutely was, but I realized a lot of it is mind over matter. I stayed focused, busy, and most importantly meal prepped like a beast and thanked the sweet heavens I was able to have 2 cups of black coffee a day. Phewf! The world doesn’t need to see me going through coffee withdraws. Trust.
By the end of the program, my body felt very new and my internal system felt as if it had gone through a car wash. I was able to easily re-introduce “not recommended” foods back into my diet and I found my palette had slightly changed. Sweet foods tasted sweeter and salty foods tasted saltier. Overall, I’m glad I did this detox as a way to restart my body and I celebrated by having a cake pop from Starbucks, but only a couple bites cause that shit was sweet AF!!! LOL.
Remember to always treat your body good because it’s the only one we get. What have you done for your body lately?
P.S Check out my Instagram for the name of my blue nail polish! I’m obsessed! I’ll be listing it tomorrow. =)
