Body Care Routine

Now that summer is upon us, it’s time to take our body care routine up a notch. We’re talking SPF, hydrated, and glowing skin. I’m about that! It’s easy to forget about body care when we are layered up in colder weather. As it heats up outside and the dresses come out, I like to spend a little more time making sure my skin is looking it’s best.

Exfoliate

This is something that I do year round, but I do it more so in the summer months. Exfoliating the entire body is a great way to eliminate dead skin to reveal the freshness underneath. I like to use Moroccanoil Body Buff about twice a week. However, it is gentle enough to be used daily. One of the things I love the most about this product, is that it also hydrates the skin while it exfoliates. Argan oil, shea, and cocoa butter are just a few of the ingredients that deliver moisture.

Aside from using product, a simple exfoliating hand mitt or loufa are amazing to use in the shower with your regular body wash! The exfoliating mitts/loufas are a little rougher than your standard body loufa,  because it’s meant to slough away the dead skin- good riddens!

Hydrate

I looooove to use oil on my skin, I actually prefer it over regular body lotion. I feel like it seeps into my skin making it feel so hydrated! I use straight up coconut oil, avocado oil, argan oil, and just plop it right on to my skin. Moroccanoil’s Pure Argan Oil is 100% argan oil that works wonders and can also be used for hair and nails. It’s loaded with vitamin E to truly nourish and condition the skin.

Second to oil, I like using body butters for maximum hydration. Moroccanoil’s Body Butter is filled with avocado oil, shea butter, olive oil, and pomegranate oil just to name a few. It’s non-greasy and lightly scented, which is important to me because a lot of scents give me a headache.

Protect

The most important step in body care is protecting it from harmful sun exposure. It’s almost mind blowing how quickly the sun’s rays can penetrate and damage the skin causing a burn. I use an SPF of 30 on my entire body if I know it’s going to be exposed. Reapplication throughout the day is also key if it’s a longer period of time in the sun.

I recently got a burn on my forehead because I was rushing to leave and skipped my sunscreen on my face (ugh). OMG, I got such a yuck burn on my forehead and into my hairline, I will never do that again. I am normally extremely diligent with applying sunscreen so I was kicking myself all week for making such a bad decision. Wear a hat and stay protected! The damage is so not worth it.

Extras

Now that we have the basics down, exfoliate, hydrate, and protect, these products are just the cherry on top of the cake. Moroccanoil’s Night Body Serum has me hooked since the first application. Leaving the skin feeling like velvet, this night serum is packed with antioxidant oils to restore moisture and protect against environmental factors. Apply this baby right before bedtime, massaging it into the skin. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing =)

Moroccanoil’s Shimmering Body Oil is so beautiful I want to put it everywhere! Oh wait, I already do that. Rich in argan oil, this body oil also adds a lightweight shimmer to the skin. I love that the sparkle is subtle and doesn’t overpower the skin. 5 stars!

Bronzers are also a great way to help ease the transition from winter skin to summer skin. Adding a temporary glow never hurt anybody, especially for an event or a night on the town. Josie Maran’s Argan Liquid Gold Self- Tanning Oil adds a tinted glow to your existing color. Totally buildable all while hydrating the skin with argan oil and more. It also comes with the application mitt, so you don’t have to buy it separately (bonus!) For full details on how to apply, click here.
